Traditionally it came down to the setting, cut, and carat size to set one engagement ring apart from others. Today, colored diamonds are being used more in more in ring settings. Recently we acquired a gorgeous pink diamond which inspired this article.
What Are They
Pink diamonds are a type of diamond that has a pink color. But many mistake them for sapphires or pink tourmaline. The pink color is most commonly attributed to the additional pressure that these diamonds undergo during their formation.
They are considered fancy diamonds as are all other colored diamonds.
Their value is based on the 4Cs just like other diamonds. The 4 Cs are cut, clarity, color and carat weight.
The Pink Star is the most famous pink diamond as it is completely flawless. It was discovered in 1999 from South Africa. And it is absolutely huge! Weighing in at 59.60 carat, it was cut and polished from a 132.5 carat rough diamond.
